Allen’s has been one of Canada’s favourite fruit juice brand for over 80 years! While our roots started in Ontario, we’ve become a part of the kitchens, lives and memories of Canadians from coast to coast.
OUR STORY IS STEEPED IN AUTHENTICITY.
The Allen’s family brand has its roots in the quaint Quaker town of Norwich, Ontario, where pioneers from Dutchess County, New York, established extensive apple orchards in 1812. Around 1880, Solomon Allen moved to Norwich and partnered with a few settlers to build the area’s first cider mill. Eventually solely owned and expanded by Solomon, this facility became known as ‘The Allen Vinegar Works,’ producing high-quality vinegars
The evolution of Allen’s continued in the early 1930s when the company pioneered a process to can sweet cider, launching ‘Allen’s Apple Juice.’ And Allen’s legendary beverage was born!
Canada Vinegars (Can/Vin) bought the Norwich plant in the late 1930s, operating it for several years, during which it became the largest facility of its kind in Canada. In 1960, Canada Vinegars built a new, modern plant in Toronto for its central location.
In a significant turning point, Can/Vin sold Allen’s. This transition marked the start of a journey through multiple acquisitions. However, Allen’s never lost its essence or know-how in making great fruit juices.
Lassonde, a Canadian family-owned business, entered the scene by purchasing the Allen’s brand in 1999, strengthening Allen’s Canadian connection even more.

Our legacy stems from apple trees. What started out as offering apple juices quickly evolved into the beloved Canadian brand Allen’s is today. That is why we are proud to be a major partner of the SickKids Hospital Foundation since 2014. Over the years, we have donated over $180,000 to the foundation to help kids feel like kids again.
We also support the Meagan Bebenek Foundation and initiatives like the Meagan’s HUG Walk for ongoing pediatric brain tumour research to help affected children and their families.
